Netflix and Chill in 2019 | AD

Ah, Netflix. One of the best websites to ever be made, but also one of the worst. Then you have the term “netflix and chill”, which translates into either a good time, or a “good time”. For me, Netflix and Chill, is a good time; a time of self love, relaxing, and binging on a new show in hopes of avoiding all deadlines. I want to talk about all the shows I’ve loved, and hopefully, will love in 2019.

I prefer watching TV shows and movies on a TV compared to a smaller screen phone or laptop. The visuals, the sound, the chill factor, are just larger and more advanced than on a small screen, where you’re sometimes struggling to focus on the details. A good quality TV makes all the difference, and many believe that good quality also comes with a ridiculously large price tag (admittedly I was one of the many). You can get a Panasonic 4K HDR TV starting at as little as £350! I personally think, even with my student bank balance, that for an amazing quality TV, spending this much is so so worth it.

netflix and chill 2019 me vs the odds

Note: This blog post is a collaboration with Panasonic, but all opinions are my own and 100% honest.

New on Netflix – 2019

Dirty John Based on a true crime podcast, the show is based on a con man and sociopath who hides his true identity, and in a way, wiggles his way into a rich woman’s life. Releases today on Netflix, the perfect anti-valentine binge perhaps?

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina – Season 2 –  Sabrina the teenage with fans rejoice! I used to love watching the child friendly show as a kid, and I am not one for childhood show reboots (who even wants another high school musical??). I love that the adaption of the show is adult friendly, and that I can binge another whole season and complain that the next one is taking too long to air.

Turn Up Charlie – Starring Idris Elba, you just know it’ll be a good watch. But he’s dropped his Luther persona and instead taken up the role of a struggling DJ that has to babysit his friends daughter. Family based and funny, I can watch it with my mum without being mortified at particular GOT vibes.

Stranger Things – Season 3 –  I have not yet jumped on the hype, the whole show just sounds super confusing to me?? but I know some of my friends will be super excited to hear that the new season will be out in July this year, and I may just have to see what this show is all about.

13 Reasons Why – Season 3 – Am I the only one who thought they should have left the show at season 1? I’ve not yet seen the second season, but is it really worth avoiding my coursework for?

Shows on Netflix that are a must watch

By “must watch” I mean shows that are focussed on self love, or make you feel good, or empower you to do better. My idea of Netflix and Chill.

Once Upon A Time – Until season 6 – I genuinely really did love this show, until half the cast decided to leave. The show is based on fairy tales and stories you hear as a kid, from princesses to tricksters, once upon a time had everything, but with a lucrative twist.

GirlBoss – The perfect show that demonstrates just how powerful we can be once we find something we love and put our mind to it. I was so disappointed when this show got cancelled. Petition for a season 2?

The Vampire Diaries and The Originals – I’m mentioning both because the latter is a spin off of The Vampire Diaries. Relive your teenage years with the Salvatore brothers and their super cliche plots, but with good looking characters. Are you #TeamDamon or #TeamStefan ??

Russel Howard: Recalibrate –  I love Russel Howard. He’s the only comedian that actually has me in stitches and doesn’t fail to make me giggle. There are so many mini clips of his performances on YouTube, and he has a tour this year (that fingers crossed I’ll be going to!)

Friends – I actually only watched Friends properly last year. Shocking, I know. But I just never found it funny when I watched the odd episode on TV. After watching the full series, from start to finish, my opinion changed completely and I genuinely think there are so many messages and lessons to be taken from that show.

Gilmore Girls – The ultimate bond between a mother and daughter, who both love self love, and you should too.

There are so so many shows I could include in a compilation that are a must watch, including suits, gossip girl, ted bundy tapes, you (to name a few). But, I want to keep this list on shows that are ‘feel good’ type shows, because that’s the vibe i’m going for in 2019.

How many of the shows listed have you seen? What shows are your go-to?

Lot’s of love,

I actually really enjoyed 13 reasons why season 2. I was unsure about how they’d progress the story line but they did it really well, so I’d definitely recommend giving it a go.

Hope you’re having a great week!

I totally agree that good quality is worth a higher price tag! I love Netflix but had no idea about some of these releases, with 13 Reasons having caused so much controversy already I’m a little surprised they’re making another. I’m also totally signing your petition for another GirlBoss!
